The Beginning
In a world driven by a shared passion for environmental sustainability, Ashadeep and Alifa, the founders of Cloket, embarked on a transformative journey. Their adventure began in 2019 when they were both part of a waste management organisation called The Midway Journey, where they actively participated in awareness programs and monthly cleanups along riverbanks, striving to extract value from discarded waste.
During these endeavours, they stumbled upon a persistent challenge: textile waste, a problem seemingly without a solution. Their astonishment deepened when they uncovered the disheartening statistic that over 1 million tonnes of textile waste are discarded in India annually.
Their turning point came in 2020 when they watched the eye-opening documentary 'Minimalism.' This documentary served as a catalyst, inspiring them to take control of their fashion consumption and make a conscious effort to reduce their impact on the environment. Their shared vision was to not only minimise their own fashion needs but also to foster a community of like-minded individuals dedicated to supporting one another in fulfilling their sporadic fashion desires, all while raising awareness about the pressing issue of climate change.

Over time, their humble concept has evolved with the entry of Aniket who has developed both the founder’s visions to turn it into a platform that not only assists the eco-conscious community but also strives to encourage others to engage in conscious consumption without compromising on their fashion desires. Their overarching goal is to build a sustainable, long-term platform that empowers individuals to make a positive impact on the environment, society, and the economy.
They initiated their journey from a deeply personal concern that impacts everyone's daily lives, and they have expanded their vision to extend this impact to those who may not yet identify as members of the environmentally conscious community.
"This concept has evolved over time, and we now have a dedicated upcycling marketplace that not only supports eco-conscious individuals but also inspires others to embrace conscious consumption."

The Upcycling Project
Cloket's Upcycling Project is a transformative initiative that empowers indigenous artisans by converting textile waste into sustainable livelihood opportunities. By upcycling post-production and post-consumption textile waste, Cloket not only addresses environmental concerns but also preserves cultural heritage. Each handcrafted product showcases traditional motifs and techniques, connecting consumers with the rich traditions of local communities.

This approach fosters recognition and supports the livelihoods of skilled indigenous makers, ensuring that their crafts continue to thrive in a modern context.
Cloket is working on India's first technology-enabled upcycled textile lifestyle marketplace. By organizing the previously unorganized market, Cloket connects stakeholders—artisans, small businesses, and waste suppliers—through meaningful collaborations. The platform provides a reliable system for sourcing textile waste and offers artisans opportunities to showcase their work to a broader audience. This initiative not only reduces textile waste but also drives positive change in communities, promoting sustainability and cultural preservation.
